Our annual PCUSA Peace and Global Witness Offering provides a concrete way to contribute to the work of peacemaking in our communities, region, and world. Within the denomination, this offering funds the Presbyterian Peacemaking Program. Twenty-five percent of the offering given will stay in Winston-Salem.
Our Global Service Committee has decided to use our twenty-five percent to support a program of The Shalom Project, Flourish. Flourish is a one-year financial education and holistic wellness program designed to help women with low income achieve financial self-sufficiency. This program recognizes that stress and trauma accompany life with low income and takes an innovative approach to empowerment: linking program participants to practical financial, career development, and healthcare resources; cultivating community across socio-economic differences; and providing access to mental health resources.
