Mystery Trip – A Journey to Atlanta!
This year’s Mystery Trip was an unforgettable adventure of learning, growth, and fun! Our senior high youth traveled to Atlanta, where they explored Martin Luther King Jr.’s vision of a beloved community. Together, we read Letter from a Birmingham Jail, visited the MLK Center and the historic Sweet Auburn neighborhood, and reflected on the power of hope and justice.

But the weekend didn’t stop there! We also learned how to curl, experienced the thrill of indoor skydiving, unleashed creativity in a spray-painting workshop, and even tried our hand at glassblowing. Through it all, the surprise-filled journey deepened our trust in one another and reminded us to embrace life’s unexpected moments with faith and joy. What a weekend to remember!

It’s time to get ready for the Souper Bowl of Caring! Come to lend a hand as we make sandwiches for our neighbors at Samaritan Ministries and get our plans together for the big day!

Souper Bowl of Caring
Preparing Now for the Offering on February 9
Since 1999, Highland youth have joined in the nationwide offering raising over $18,000 and 3,500 food items for our neighbors here in Forsyth county. This year we’re up for the challenge!
January 26 we will gather for an afternoon of service learning with Samaritan Ministries and get our game plan ready.
February 9 the offering is collected. Partnering with the Fellowship Committee, we will be hosting a churchwide lunch and chili meal as a way of connecting with our faith family and raising additional funds. We need 15 youth to sign up to help us make this day a success!

Summer Youth Trips Now Open!

Montreat Youth Conference
Current 8th Grade through Graduating Seniors – June 8-14
We join with hundreds of Presbyterian youth from across the country for a week of deep learning, big community, and making faith real. Each day is a mix of worship, recreation, small group, and back home group conversation. It’s a packed week with big growth and fun as we encounter God and discover a vibrant faith.

Massanetta Middle School Conference
Current 5th Grade through 8th Grade – July 15-18
This favorite conference offers faith-filled, hands-on experiences designed specifically for middle school youth. Fostering a deeper understanding of the broader church, MSMSC brings together youth from the region for a week of keynotes, workshops, small groups, and recreation.

Worship Leadership – Opportunities for All – Youth in worship leadership is a great joy! In addition to acolytes, we are adding a new practice to walking in the communion elements and the Bible as visual grounding for the act of worship. Additionally youth are encouraged to take a turn leading prayers and ushering. These are roles needed at every Sunday service so reach out to take a turn! Contact Hannah Duane or Courtney

Parenting the Teen Years – First Monday of the Month, 7:00 p.m. by Zoom
Don’t read the book! (Or do!) Parents are busy so we have designed a book club to fit your needs. Show up for one of these gatherings throughout the year as we share our parenting wins and woes, practices for faith formation in the home, and raising resilient youth, and grab a book to mark up and look through on your own time. (See email for zoom link)
